Maggie

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Maggie. On March 8, 2024 at the age of 64, Maggie was surrounded by her loving family, when she passed. She is survived by her beloved husband Jim; cherished sons Rhean (Amanda) and Ayrton (Ashley) her adored grandchildren Eva and Ryleigh; loving Mother Corrie, devoted siblings; Dick (Debbie), Pat, and Johnny (Lois) sisters-in-law Carol, Aunts; Margaret, Mary, Myrna and Leany; Uncle Henk; parents-in-law Diane and Peter; her nieces Brooklyn, Adriana, Paige and Devon; her nephew Tyler and her treasured four legged companions, Bernadette and Juliet.

Maggie was born on Nov 2, 1959 in Vancouver, BC and raised in Powell River, BC. Maggie spent most of her 64 years in Penticton. Exercise was always a big part of her life. She enjoyed figure skating as a child and performed very well in this sport. In recent years she loved the outdoors and spent many days hiking the back trails in the Okanagan and on the Sunshine Coast.

She had a big heart and a warm hug, and even in her time of need she was always willing to lend a hand. This was particularly evident in the last 5 years as she orchestrated and maintained the care for her own Mother. Of her many successes, her biggest success was that of Spouse, Mother, and Grandmother. This is what she was the most proud of.

Maggie was a true adventurer at heart, her love for travel took her across the globe—from the historic landscapes of Germany and Holland, to the vibrant cultures of France, Spain, and Mexico, and the serene shores of Hawaii. She was also a frequent cruiser, exploring the vast beauty of the Caribbean, Alaska and Panama Canal. Even during her heroic battle with recurring cancer, which she fought valiantly throughout the COVID pandemic, her spirit for adventure remained.

We invite you to join us in celebrating Maggie’s remarkable life and the memories we shared. A celebration of life event will be held on June 2nd. Please visit maggie.ryva.ca for more information on the celebration.

Maggie’s legacy of courage, joy, an undying zest for life, and the continual love for her family and friends, will forever inspire those who knew her. We thank you for keeping her and our family in your thoughts during this most difficult time.
